Caterpillar Room
For children aged 2 to 3 years
A 16- place room with an adult to child ratio of 1:4
The Caterpillar room provides care for our 2-3 year olds continuing their learning journey at Rotherly through a child centred in the moment approach. We see the encouragement of children’s independence as a high importance and nurture this from an early age, by creating an environment that is enabling and always accessible to all areas of learning.
In the Caterpillar room you really get the sense of a home-from-home. The cosy book corner has the feel of a library, with a vast range of books to read. The construction area is full of all sorts of natural construction material, alongside small world resources to encourage the children to incorporate the two together to support their imaginative role play. We have a creative station full of different resources, as well as a self care area with different dressing up clothes. We free flow into the Caterpillar garden, which is open no matter the weather.
